As a futuristic space game the individual ships can be just about any size so judging scale is all but impossible. Two species are available as Auxilary: The Kroot and the Demiurg.Įmployed as the frontline close ranged combatants, in service to the Tau, the Kroot Warriors are a crude but effective means of dealing with those in melee range, a tactic scourned by most Tau Commanders. The Tau Empire is ever growing and slowly new planets turn to allegiance of the Etherals and it comes to no surprise that other species join the cause, from the promise of protection and support from the Tau.Īuxilaries serve more of mercernaries, and temporary enforcement, but their firepower and tactical usage far exceeds than that of standard Tau Ships. Mont'ka is more ideally suited for more offensive strategies and gamemodes, such as Cruiser Class, where there is lesser weight on defense and more on brute force. Due to the nature of this tactic, enemy ships suffer from a -5 troop capacity penalty and the chance of disabling a ship component is 4x instead of 2x. Ships with thicker armor should be used to weather the approach before unleashing their boarding parties. Otherwise known as the 'Killing Blow', is a more aggressive close ranged option involve heavy use of boarding tactics. This is useful for defensive battles where an objective is to be protected. It is imperative that this strategy is used without the need of boarding. Good usage of this tactic involves using a weaker Escort Ship to attract enemy attention and then falling back upon being Identified. When Kauyon is selected, all Tau ships will begin to increase their accuracy by 5%, starting at 6k units and then on per 3k. This strategy involves staying at range and exercises the Tau's reliance on distance. Tau Commanders should expect to sit from the backlines, using the battle area's environment to conceal or protect their valued vessels from short ranged attacks but they can take a bit more punishment than the Eldar Whom solely rely on hit and run tactics.ĭue to their staunt belief in the Tau'va, or the Greater Good, the Tau are more conservationist than some and may abandon the mission if losses begin to climb Further emphasising the need to maintain fleet integrity throughout the battle.
